Blog Assignment #2

Did You Know?
picture of question marks

This video was just extremely interesting to me. That was so much information to take in and the video wasn't even five minutes long! I learned so much about how technology is changing every day. It will not ever be the same. To think that a technology students information from his first year of school will be useless by his third year, astonishes me. Technology is always changing and we need to be aware of it and be able to apply the newest forms of it when we become teachers.

The fact that while watching that short video so many babies were born is amazing to me. This shows that our world is always growing and things will also be changing constantly. I do wonder if we have an overpopulation growth? Can we hold all these people that are being born? Definitely questions to ponder.

Mr. Winkle Wakes
change ahead sign

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It is exactly right! The world around us is changing constantly but school is staying the same. It is the same things we learned, our parents learned and even our grandparents. Nothing has really changed except the textbook covers and the boards went from being chalk to surprisingly SMART boards.

Now what are we going to do to change this? Education needs to be fast-forwarding and changing just like everything else. The only way this is going to happen is if we as future teachers take hold of technology and incorporate it in our teaching. We also need to get our students trained to use it so that they can function in today's society.

The Importance of Creativity
picture of art and music

This video was very inspirational and gave me lots of facts about kids and how they learn. This showed me that creativity is important for a child and that right now children are losing their creativity because we tell children not to use it and to just stick to facts and figures. I love this quote: "Creativity is as important as literacy." WOW! What a thought!
This video really made me realize that as a future teacher we need to encourage our students to be creative and make mistakes. Thomas Edison made plenty of mistakes and today we thank him for those because he has given us light. Just think: the next Thomas Edison could be in my classroom!

Cecilia Gault
finland flag and united states flag
How impressive was Cecilia! Her intellect astonishes me. When reading her article I thought she was much older than she really is. She carried herself so well and really made you think about how things are different in the United States. She also shows us that it can be different. The United States can have a 1 percent drop out rate like Finland if we try.
I would love to have a Cecilia Gault in my classroom. That would make me realize that we can help our kids to reach their true potential. To have a child as brilliant as she is in my classroom I would have to make sure that I kept her busy and on track with her learning abilities while also helping the other students in my classroom with theirs. Everyone learns at a different rate and that is something that is difficult for a teacher to adjust their teaching style too.

Vicki Davis is a inspiring teacher to all future teachers. She is uses technology in her classroom to promote learning and to help students recognize all aspects of technology. This helps students to be connected to people around the globe and get them interacting with other students and different cultures.
This is really inspiring and seems to be accepted in schools. I wonder if it would be accepted around Mobile? I would like to use all aspects of technology in my classroom. If it is helping promote learning then I think we should embrace it for what it is and can do to help better our schools.

Blog Assignment #1

Hey! My name is Brittany Hamilton. I am 21 years old and have lived in Mobile my whole life. I decided to go to the University of South Alabama because I don't particularly like change. So I knew I wanted to stay here and South has a great education department. I am interested in doing drama (mostly at my church) and I love to shop. I still live at home with my mom and sister. I also have a brother. Hes 27 and is a wildlife biologist and works for Mossy Oak. My sister is 17 and she is a senior at Murphy. I also have a boyfriend, Cole, who I have been dating for 2 1/2 years now.
I am going into elementary education because I have a passion for children and want to do everything in my power to help them succeed. When I started college I was in the Allied Health Department but knew that I have always wanted to become a teacher. Once I switched I immediately became excited about the path I had chosen and started buying teaching supplies. I think this is what I do best and am looking forward to what the future holds.
